Last night we had the pleasure of meeting Jens (pronounced "YENTZ"), a 22 year old from a small town in Germany. We walked around Sorrento and talked for hours with him. He's living in Scotland right now to improve his English, so he says words like "bum" and "queue" occasionally. We talked about EVERYTHING from education to politics to dialects to music to movies...etc... He was so friendly to all of us, representing Germany in the best possible way. We saw a few swasticas graffitied on the walls while we were talking which brought up the topic of stereotypes. He assured us he was not a Nazi :) and gave us his address. He loves traveling and plans on leaving Germany for good.

Now I am on a boat going from the island of Capri back to the mainland of southern Italy. Today we went on small rowboats into the blue grotto. The cave was beautiful and the Italians rowing sang songs for us. The acoustics were wonderful. It was much too short an experience.

We also saw Pompeii yesterday. I'm glad I saw it. It seemed like they were more civilized than we are today, way back in the BCE.
