I just went out for a walk to find an open market to buy some snacks and passed a fenced yard with a doll head on a stick. A very antique doll head, slightly dirty, so it looks pretty frightening. I assume its meant to scare away the birds to save the fruit trees, but I think its scaring people too. Apples are so red here. They look like the poisoned apple in Snow White. I'm at the Strancice train station, waiting again, listening to birds singing and a hen cackling from someone's yard. We're leaving Dr. Mayer's villa and heading back into the heart of Prague. Too bad I can't keep the old metal skeleton key to the villa as a souveneir. There was a very friendly couple from Singapore in the breakfast hall this morning. They are traveling all over Europe also, for as long as the money lasts. Their names are Malcolm and Angelique. They had all sorts of questions because they only arrived here last night, so we told them what to expect from Prague, Vienna and Budapest, since they want to visit the same cities. They like it here in Prague the same way we do. There were white doves walking in the train tracks, but it began sprinkling so they all flew away. The two black kittens on the station roof have left also. Only us few going to Prague still wait here in the freezing cold.
