I got about an hour and a half of sleep last night before leaving for SFO International Airport for my first plane ride, ever. There were technical difficulties with the air filtration system, so we took off roughly 45 minutes late. The airplane was VERY cramped, but still exciting, though I didn't get a window seat. I read a magazine, listened to cds, and ate healthy snacks to pass the time. Take off was a bit scary because I didn't know what to expect. The rest was boring. We arrived in Detroit, late for the plane that would have taken us to Amsterdam and then to Madrid. But now, we have time to kill waiting for a plane tomorrow, so we get to tour Amsterdam in the meantime! I am VERY excited. I want to see the Anne Frank Museum if possible. We had a free dinner here at the airport because Senora was disappointed about having to miss a day in Spain because of the late planes. So the nice Dutch stewardess gave us gift certificates to spend however we'd like, and free international calling cards! We don't get to shower tomorrow. We come straight off the plane without our luggage, so we have to wear the same clothes. I don't mind. This is an adventure! Ok. Now we are about to fly in luxury. Business class all the way to Amsterdam baby. Aww yeah. Blankets, grilled chicken breast, champagne, reclining seats, complimentary socks, sleep mask, toothbrush and toothpaste in a satiny bag! And free newspapers! I am in heaven.
